  1. Simple:

    Who likes to be rejected and left out?

    No one. Thats why they try to fit in.


  2. Most young teens believe that everyone is looking at them.  This is a documented phenomena (sorry I can't cite it off the top of my head).  They truly feel this is happening to them.  So part of conformity might be that they do not want provoke any additional "unwanted" attention.
