  1. clogged evap coil call a tech youll have to have it pulled and cleaned do the condenser at the same time

  2. something is blocking your air flow through your plinum

  3. Probably freezing the indoor coil.

Do you see any ice around the refrigerant lines?

the outdoor unit may be off on a low pressure switch.

Turn the cooling off and the fan switch to on so it will aid in defrosting the coil.

Once it has froze it will not correct itself until has defrosted completely.

Once you have normal airflow through the registers try it again.

If it starts to freeze up again you will need a tech to diagnose.

  4. you may need to have your AC recharged.  My AC broke down and it was not cooling the house at all, it was 90 degrees + in my house.  I live in FL and it was brutal.  But I needed an entire new unit!  Thank God I was renting or else that would have cost me 2000 bucks!

  5. Unusual, but not impossible, that only the inside unit is running. You failed to say if the unit had been running ok before and for how long this has been happening. The inside unit will run with the t-stat in the fan position. Of course the air would flow in the proper direction. Need a little more info.

  6. I would look for a plugged filter, or something causing a blockage. I don't think I have ever heard of air blowing out of the return air duct before.

    Yes.

There may be fuses inside this box, or there may be nothing.. If fuses, replace both with dual element fuses of the same value. There may also be a breaker, which only needs to be reset. Good luck.
