Why is cricket not the national game of India?

In India almost 90% of people r interested in cricket.Then y it is not d national game

They are too busy changing the city names. It doesn't cost much and makes them feel good about themselves. Most politicians talk cricket but are not into cricket so cricket is not their main game. In these circumstances chances of cricket being the national game are not so bright.

Maybe the Govt. will feel the need to change it one day. Till then it is Hockey.

One hitch is that it originated in England and came to India with the English. That alone is a deterrent. Cricket that is. A national game is not one that is popular, but one that is a National Pride.
