  1. While everyone there will or has served in the military, and when they get out they retain their service weapons, they are not required to carry them.

However, the crime rate is low there because criminals don't like getting shot.  Everyone there has been trained in marksmanship and has a military issue weapon.

  2. It is not mandatory to carry a firearm in Switzerland.  It is mandatory to serve in the military and be ready to be activated.  This means that every able bodied male must own a firearm.  But they don't have to carry them.

  3. The better armed the populace, the lower the crime rate. Fact.

  4. This is one of those "Well Duh!" questions.

Would you attack someone that you knew to be armed and capable of effective self defense? If you knew that you would probably die during the attack?

Or would you rather go to New York, or England, or the District of Corruption, where the criminals are guaranteed a safe working environment?

  5. FOOL.

It is not mandatory to carry a firearm in Switzerland.

  6. Guns make you a risky target for criminals and Switzerland is a mainly white nation filled with civilized people, although you can carry a gun it is not required. Be offended if you want to be, but the fact is the safest, most civilized places are Iceland, Switzerland, New Zealand, and so forth. All off the beaten path and filled with White people that understand civilized behavior.

  7. Because armed society is a polite society

  8. Do you have a link to verify that claim?

And if you are going to use Switzerland for a model, then we can safely assume you support National Healthcare?

"In Switzerland, A Health Care Model For America?"

"NPR.org, July 2, 2008 · At first glance, Switzerland's health care system looks like it could be the perfect political compromise for the United States.

As Republicans would prefer, individuals — not employers or the government — choose from a broad array of health plans, sold by private insurance companies.

And as Democrats urge, everyone in Switzerland has health coverage (it's required by law), with the government providing generous subsidies for those who couldn't otherwise afford it."

  9. It is not mandatory to carry a firearm in switzerland.

  10. Would you try to rob me if you knew I was armed?? Then another thing look at the Racial make up of Switzerland. I know it isn't PC to say it but it is a cold hard fact. Pull up the 10 most dangerous cities in the U.S. to live in. Then pull up the 10 safest cities. Then look at the Racial Make up of all 20 of the cities. See a pattern? End of stroy

  11. Yeah, I don't believe that is the law.

I do believe that less gun control results in less crime, though.

  12. Because everyone knows everyone else has a gun, and it would be stupid trying to rob or kill someone knowing they have a weapon themselves.

When you put firearms in the hands of responsible people, crime goes down.

The criminals will find  a way to arm themselves one way or another, so why make it harder for good acting citizens to defend themselves?

  13. Got some pretty close to the right answer. Mandatory military service  for male is the norm in Switzerland. They  are given/assigned/issued a weapon and have to have them at home. Some, I am sure are "machine guns".They are one of the few places that still has a "standing militia" and all eligible/able men up to a certain age are required to have that weapon and , if I remember correctly have an annual or every other year, qualification and mandatory training like national guard or reserves in the US.

Works well for them since I don't recall them ever being taken in war and only slightly abused during WWII. They also happen to be in a very nice location for protection. They are also a very peace loving country. Lessons can be learned from them.
