Always recall, garbage in, garbage out.  If your data is "bad", usually a result of bad sampling procedures, then your survey or experiment is meaningless.  That is why there are so many inaccurate statistical results roaming around in the world.  It is not the case that, "one can make statistics say whatever one wants to make them say."  Rather, one can make statistics incorrectly report results (from bad data collection).  So, always use random samples, representative samples, and do not skimp on cost.  While one must be conservative with grant money, etc., cut back anywhere other than in data collection.

    I worked with the top man in the field, in fact, he created the field.
