  1. Cause today broadband rules!!! But yes, it's because of traffic in lines

  2. lot of traffic and depends on what time of day when a lot of people on the web and t slow down alot

  3. because its dial up......that why we all have high-speed Internet!!

  4. Dial-up is slow because it can only transfer a maximum of 56Kbps of data.  It is just a technology used issue.

In contrast, DSL Internet can transfer up to 1.5 Mbps, and even up to 5 Mbps.  Thus, DSL and cable Internet can be 30 to 100 times faster than dial-up.

Or, to put it another way, dial-up is as much as 100 times slower than DSL or cable Internet...

  5. Dial-up internet is slow because it relies on the modulation of an audible carrier signal. Audible carriers are used because they're universal: every phone line is capable of carrying an audible signal (obviously, or we wouldn't be able to *talk* on the phone). But the amount of signal that can be squeezed into a modulated audio tone is limited by the signal-to-noise capacity of the twisted-pair wiring of your phone line... and we've pretty much reached the theoretical maximum, at about 57 kbps.

DSL uses the same twisted-pair wiring, but it relies on a much higher-frequency carrier signal. That allows much more information to be carried; however, that high-frequency carrier can only travel on wiring up to a certain distance, and can be lost or hopelessly distorted if the signal passes through older switching equipment before reaching your house. So, not everyone can use DSL.

  6. Lots of traffic slows down the lines and connection

  7. its a cheaper type of internet.

get dsl and its 2-4 x faster
