Why is diction important? Please help!?

I know why it is, but I can't seem to figure out how to explain it.

  1. To be able to pronounce words correctly is important.  You will never get a good job by speaking ebonics.  You will never get a good job when you "aks" people questions.  It's a difference between being lazy and taking the time to do something right.  People get mad when their name is mispronounce so why don't they get upset when people don't know how to speak properly?


  2. Diction is important because it's the art of speaking clearly. It's important that each word is clearly heard & understood to it's fullest complexity & extremity.  

    Speaking clearly is GREAT for the listener.

If you don't speak clearly enough, people may have difficulty understanding you.  If you speak in a way that people regard is "lazy" or "lower class" you will be judged by people.  It can affect your ability to get a good job and earn a good living.  It can affect how you are treated by others in general.
