Why is drug use illegal?

i understand why dealing drugs, or using them outside of your home should be illegal. but how does the government have the right to tell me, on a situation that is so greatly debated, yet still demonized by the constitution, that i can not put any substance in my body, provided i do not harm anyone else?

i am trying to picture a person getting arrested for manufacturing their own drugs for self use, and not giving them to anyone, or metabolizing them around anyone, and yet going to prison for a crime? what crime? cutting yourself isn't a crime, trying to gain weight isn't a crime, why is drug use? i am not a stupid person and by no means do i think drug use helps you see through government propaganda, so why is it imperative we stay away from these substances?

and to any police officers on this board (i want to be one myself in a few years), do you agree this is a hypocrisy, and are you strict in upholding drug offenses you come across that don't involve dealing or publiclyy being under the influence?

  1. because the government isn't getting there cut... its all about the Benjamin's...plus its more profitable for the government to bust you and charge you with a crime.. it creates jobs  i.e .. prison staff.. parole officers.. prison construction.. the list goes on and on.. if drugs were made legal it would make for lots of unemployment..

  2. Some drugs like speed--heroin--etc wreck lives.  Other like Helucinagenic in my opinion do make revolt.  Though in my opinion this is not reason to illegalizes.  Marijuana -- I can not figure out for the life of me why it should be illegal.
