  1. haha my friend plays dungeons and dragons

yeah it is kinda wrong to pin someone as a nerd just for playing it.I guess it's tv and stuff like that. But nerds are kinda cool sometimes.....If someone commited suicide because of this game, that's they're problem :)

  2. it is a complicated game , that requires imagination. and

their is no visual blood and gore affects

  3. because it is a game about dragons and sourcery which is pretty boring and complicated so yea u are a nerd if u play it.

  4. Ignorance. Anyone who actually plays the game and participates in the hobby knows that all kinds of people play D&D (most notably Vin Diesel and Steven Colbert) and all the "bad stuff" simply doesn't exist.

The American Association of Suicidology, the Centers for Disease Control,  and Health & Welfare (Canada) have all found no link between suicide and role-playing games. The facts are that those who play role-playing games, such as D&D, actually have a slightly lower rate of suicide.

There is no link between role-playing games and the occult. It's a myth that religious extremists propagate because they don't understand the game. Many attacked Harry Potter for its occult overtones, yet despite its rabid fan following, Churchs of Satan haven't sprung up on every street corner.

Comic books were once seen as the embodiment of the forces corrupting youth. Comic books were gonna wipe out America as we know it. More recently, it has been rock-and-roll, Hollywood movies, and computer games.

  5. Suicide?  Baloney.  It's been used as a scapegoat in legal cases, like heavy metal music and Hostess Twinkies.

The main culprit is a TV movie from the 80's called "Mazes and Monsters", in which teens playing a D&D-like game are unable to distinguish between fantasy and reality.  But the movie isn't really about Dungeons and Dragons (which is played indoors, on paper) it's about live-action role-playing, like with costumes and swords outdoors.

There is exactly ONE case of a D&D player whose death was tied to role-playing games - but he was also battling depression, drug-addiction, academic pressure and undeclared homosexuality.  So you make the call.

As for the nerd/geek thing, unfortunately it's mostly true.  But think about it - it's a fantasy game.  Who needs a bit of fantasy escape in their lives more than nerds?  But it's no more "dangerous" than comic-books, science-fiction movies, or Playboy magazines.

Sure, hardcore rightwing Christians don't like the game because it has demons, vampires, and witches in it - but it's all FANTASY.  If a teen can't tell the difference between a game and real Satanism, you've got a bigger problem - a stupid kid.

  6. The game of dungeons and dragons is basically played by devil worshippers and weird kids.
