  1. I think kids are taught the principle of instant gratification at an early age. They live in the "now" and generally don't think about the consequences of their actions (i.e., bunking school), which might effect their future. I also think the parents are mostly to blame. They interfere with the educational process by micro-managing their child/teacher relationships.

  2. 1. Our generation thrives on instant gratification, for one.  Sitting in class is just too hard and boring.

    2.  Our society is also a "me, I, myself" oriented.  Weve become self-centered...

    3.  Government stepped in to tell us how we need to raise our kids....parents are afraid to discipline.

    4.  Parents are struggling just to keep food on the table and pay the rent...so little time is for the kids.  Both parents are working....or...

    5.  parents are divorced, seperated or never married...we have also forgotten the roots of a strong nation....the family, commitment...and what that means.

    6.  Schools are just as guilty, if they do not like how a kids act they want them on drugs...another problem in our society...

    7.  We are all being dumb downed, the foundations of this country are crumbling.  "No child left behind Act, is a joke from h**l."

    8.  Wwe are bombarded by media and technology...no one has to use their brain anymore...dont use it, lose it.

    9.  there are sooooo many factors that are coming into play, too much to list here, but for me, i believe that for a nation to thrive, the roots must be firmly planted...the smallest system,  the family....is no longer valued like it once was.

  3. It would seem that our society is making a concentrated effort to protect people from the consequences of their stupid decisions. In nature, the penalty for stupidity is death, no stays, no appeals. In most countries that work on democratic principles at some level, the greater the number of surviving voters with little education or little intelect, the stronger the power of the party that is able to lead them like sheep.

  4. John.. you are so very right!!!!

Anyway, to answer the question.. I've always said that if you keep the people ignorant.. the state can do what the heck they like.. who are we to know da better.  So i guess that what i am saying is that the education system has to be held accountable.  They are not only keeping them dumb, they are keeping them anti social.. they've got nothing to talk about, because they know nothing.

  5. i wasn't one of those kids. i studied hard and made it into a top university. my parents raised me well.

  6. Parents are less and less interested in helping their children achieve and education. Schools can no longer dicipline kids or make them study or do anything whatsoever without parents backing them up at home. Sometimes it is better for the schools not to have these kids there anyways as they would only disrupt the kids who are there to learn.   In many homes there are no parents around to keep things in check to begin with and in many homes, the parents actually encourage their kids to ditch school and simply lie and say they are being "homeschooled" (truthfully, I believe a majority of homeschooling families are seriously educating their thier kids, but there are many are not educating them at all and I know a few personally). Kids are just becoming street children, with no direction in life whatsoever.

  7. It is a form of laziness.  Both the parents and kids suffer from this illness.  The kids think that you can get any thing for nothing, without putting in a cents worth of labor.  Because, when their parent grew up they suffered from 'deprivation'.  There was nothing and only the very rich had any household goods.  Seventy years ago, the stuff that clutters modern homes did not exist. Washing machines, radios, TV's, you name it.  Those days even "free time" involved work.  And kids grew up with a sense of work.  When they grew up and had kids, the reasoning become: "I had very little and I'm not going to that to my kids."  Now the current generation of kids are used to getting - "For nothing".

My chores ranged from dishes, to cleaning vegies, cleaning house, fixing shoes, selling home grown fruit. The modern kids don't do that anymore and the parents want to be "their friends" instead of parents.  Because just now little 'Bobby' throws a tantrum!  The kids of today suffer the parents of today.       Peace.

  8. for me,i blame it on entertainment....kids today are exposed to way too much entertainment.....not just any entertainment, but liberal types of entertainment.....and these entertainments exposure are making their minds not to be interested to education, thus making the interest in such field to not be as strong....which is why we see that young people today like to take the backseat especially in classes.......its a normal thing to be seen happening,really.....i leave the rest to you....
