Question:

Why is everybody making a big deal about players leaving for over seas?

so far the only player that isn't an international player that left is Josh Childress. We had to expect that all the other players would go back to Europe sometime. None of them are stars in the NBA and they will be a lot better over seas anyways and be the biggest star on that team.

  1. Got me man ,I don't have a clue why people get worked up about nothing.

Players are going to do whats best for them and there family's .They don't give a rats @ss about the teams or the fans!

If the money better over seas for some players ,Then go i say.

  2. it's the offseason, so analysts and reporters don't have much else to talk on. and the NBA has always been the penultimate league for basketball players. but if Euro leagues keep building steam, people foresee american players jumping ship. especially as our economy declines and our dollars worth dwindles.

it's economics 101. if they can get more there, why not? Childress is making double what the Hawks were offering.

  3. It's a big deal because Europe is becoming an free agency choice now since the american dollar's value is down. If they make what they make here, lets say 3mil a year......if they make that over there n come back here it'll be 3x as much here so they'd be makin almost 10 mil for minimum services.

  4. Well, I think it is mostly pride.  Some people cannot believe that players would leave the grand, unbeatable in sports, USA and head overseas.

Keep in mind that Europe has done this for years in other sports.  Now, a lot of noise is being made to limit the number of international players one team can have.  Over here, we are a bit backwards (which we always seem to be in sports).  We do not care who comes in and plays, but we do not want people to leave.  That is so odd.  We should be more worried about players from other countries out performing our own than if someone decides to go leave.  The more representatives we have in other countries, the better it showcases the talent from the US.

Again, you are listening to old, traditional, arrogant sportscasters who do not know what a real sports fan is.

  5. dunno maybe they think their favorite player would leave for Europe or something.

  6. It's something of a precedent, what ends up happening is that if enough role players like Josh Childress start leaving, the price of players starts going up.  No All-Stars have left yet, but Europe can't afford All-Stars, however, if they can snag the above-average role players, everyone in the NBA is going to be more expensive all around.  Josh Childress has made the biggest splash because he is an American player doing so and it brings to light how much more some players are paid overseas.  Cleveland Cavaliers have shown us over the past two years why you can't win with just one superstar.

  7. Well said   .. .  hawks arent gonna miss childress 1 bit
