Why is everyone becoming obsessed with purity rings?

it's rilly driving me crazy. you dont need a ring telling everyone that you're gonna wait till marriage. can't you just say no instead of buying a stupid ring?

mm. Its kind of like the victoria beckham cut and the Chloe Paddington bag, once it hits the scene BAM everyone and their effing mother wants one.

I mean, a purity ring doesn't mean that your "pure". No one is TRULY pure in my mind, (considering that over 50% of kids in high school were polled to be SEXUALLY ACTIVE).

They are both two of the stupidest fads I've ever seen. Christ, people, NO ONE cares whether or not you advertise your virginity. I'd actually be less likely to want to be friends with you. For serious.

It goes on your wedding finger and is an important reminder to keep yourself pure, for yourself and your family- not to mention the ring is blessed by a priest. They understand they aren't ready for the responsibility of having a child and everything else that comes with having s*x.

it's kind of like a promise people think it's better than just saying you're gonna wait, people see it as proof. of course just because you wear one doesn't always mean you're serious about it. but that's what it's supposed to mean.

its not stupid ok. its telling god that you WILL be pure. IN ALL WAYS. it says that you wont break your promise, and just say oh im going to be pure, then you give in. and its not an obsession. so quit complaining and i do consider this question as a rant.

why does it bother you so much? if someone needs a reminder then let them have it, I'm sure they are many other things to worry about in your life then someone wearing a ring.
