Question:

Why is everyone blaming China?

I was just wondering why china is so much under fire from all these claims of them faking this and that? The fireworks weren't completely faked. And some of the fakeness was to preserve the safety of the helicopters. Seriously...if China wanted to, as the inventors of fireworks, they could pull off something even more spectacular. Now the singer lipsynching, why does that matter? A lot of people don't seem to understand how important this is to the Chinese. They've worked ages to get to this moment and is it wrong for them to want it to be perfect? Let's see another country try to match what they did. Everyone is blaming the Chinese, and despite of that fact, in every competition, they cheer on every team, regardless of past differences, with enthusiasm. I think everyone should uphold the olympic truce and instead of firing accusations, focusing on enjoying themselves. As for the gymnasts...there has not been hard proof and plus why shouldn't they compete? If you did prove them to be underage, how nice would it sound to know that you got beat by kids?

I'm sorry for ranting and all, but I wanted to voice my opinions and I wanted to see what you guys thought as well.

  1. hi.

the only thing i was upset about was that they thought the other girl  wasnt cute enough to sing live

  2. The opening ceremony was a show after all. And that show are for the whole world to see thus the viewers deserve the best regardless of crossing what others might think the boundaries or regulations, w/c as far as I know there is none. There is no rule not to use graphic fireworks, or doesnt allow lip-syncing. Other famous singers do that stuff , do we throw rocks at them?

I mean like you are watching a famous broadway show or the greatest film ever made and the opening show is the same, chinese wanted to make sci-fi special effects performance to sell the olympic fever to everyone who would want see that event, weren't you at least awe inspired by it? Its funny if its true how kids beats other competing adult professional athletes on their game.

  3. I agree....Its all nonsense becuz there is nothing else to write about that is in conflict with the 2008 Olympics. And, without conflict, it seems the writers and/or reporters have nothing to report.

I am enjoying the games very much and I pay no attention to the pettiness that's being offered criticizing the Olympics. Great show and terrific athletes...all!

  4. lol China has been a media topic for so long and it never gets old, Plus Chinese hosting of olympics just freshing the chinese topic again. What else the american media focus on? Native american human rights or american soldiers astrocities in iraq?

  5. The reason we are upset by China's presentation of fireworks and the singer is, that they were deceptive.  It would have been fine if they acknowledged that they had a separate recording of the fireworks for use on TV; it was quite nice.

Even worse was giving the "cute" girl credit for the singing of the talented Yang Peiyi.  That is simply unethical.

Considering this egregious behavior, what can we expect from Chinese athletes?  Will their government even allow them to compete fairly, or force them to cheat?

  6. who else do you want to blame.
