Why is everyone freaking out about the Cubs offense?

It's called a slump and every team goes through them at some point of the season. Maybe players are a little fatigued and could use some rest because we did have some guys on the DL and others needed to play more then usual and miss some off days to fill those spots. Not to mention it's hard to score when our biggest run producers aren't hitting. They will get out of their funk. They've proven all season long that they're a very capable offense and even with the slump they're still tops in the league.

3rd in BA at .278 (Rangers and Red Sox are 1st at .279)

Tied for 1st in OBP at .355

5th in SLG at .441

Tied for 2nd in H at 996

7th in HR at 117

2nd in RBI at 509

1st in BB at 407

Why is everyone freaking out over this? It's just a little slump they'll come around.

  1. lol...who's freaking?  the cubs have gone through a little slump, something all teams go through...but as a reds' fan who listens to a lot of cub games, i can tell you that the cubs have a great offense, and in the end, it'll be something else that fails if they don't win a lot more than they already have...

  2. i think people get a little more freaked out than usual when the cubs start to struggle because the cubs have a history of breaking down when the pressure gets turned up...they'll be fine, they're still my pick to win the world series as of right now, and when their offense does come around and soriano gets back in the swing of things it's just a matter of time imo before they run away with the nl central

  3. I agree it's a slump, but Derrek Lee and Aramis Ramirez need to step up fast. They're both going cold and that's why the Cubs are hurting. Soto is being very streaky and is going through a cold spell as well even though he did homer today.

Reed Johnson and Mike Fontenot can't carry the Cubs, they're not in the right part of the lineup for that to happen.

So until the middle of the order wakes up, the runs are going to continue to be hard to come by.

  4. Every time a slump occurs, people  begin to get worried, especially since prior to this season no one besides the northsiders thought to cubs would be doing so well.

  5. Their offensive numbers are still good.  But those numbers have went down lately.  They scored 16 runs in two games so they may be coming out of it.  Having Soriano back will be a boost.  Hopefully Ramirez and Fukudome will start hitting again.

  6. cause they suck!!!!!go white sox

    and go bears!!!
