Everyone seems to be saying that, and i understand that China in the past has been very reluctant to have visitors from foreign soil, but what will now change? We've always been able to get into China, but its where in China we can go that has been the issue, does this now mean there is no longer an out-of-bounds for China. Why is everyone saying the Olympics were China's coming out ceremonies?

  1. To my knowledge, China had come out/opened it's iron curtain a long time ago, at least had been to the current extent in the past 10 years or so. China wouldn't have this day had it not opened its country to foreigners from the past decades. The Olympics is more like the epitome of the "New" China, and it is a good opportunity for their government to advertise to those who haven't already learn about the modern day China especially people in the States and Latin America.

  2. From this olympic,

    "What a wonderful China !!!!!"

If every olympic can be as great as this time,

the world will be a better place to enjoy.

  3. Perhaps 4 decades ago, Chinese people did not like foreigners because at that time People's Republic of China was just founded and Chinese people just got independence.

You know, China was under invasion for more than 100 years (1840-1949) so they were afraid of foreigners.

But now, every foreign friend is welcome. The Olympic Games is a symbol of friendship. More and more foreigners will come to China after they proved that China is peaceful and friendly. The Olympic Games shows them.

  4. they mean that china has been communist and very secretive from the rest of the world, now they are finally ready to make peace with all of us and become our friends. they will change more democratically, but slowly, and eventually there will be no more communism.

  5. because China use to be kinda a mystery to the whole world and the olympics put the spotlight on them for a long time to where we got to see alot of China with what and how they do over there.

  6. Probably because it was the first time people from all over the world came together in China.

I never even heard that phrase being used
