  1. We are slightly bordering on blind patriotism, in my opinion. But at least it isn't to the point where we have a Gestapo policing the country to make any people who think otherwise "conveniently disappear".

  2. its all in the presidential election. every has become patriotic now

  3. The masses generally do what they're told. If told we need to be patriotic, all those wal-mart, mcdonalds, disney, etc. people out there have it covered!

  4. Patriots are the ones who loved our country enough to begin a revolution to free it from England.  The equivilent today would be to free it from the greedy politicians and their lobbyist and corporate friends, who are out to steal it, while spending our hard earned money to do it.

  5. blind fervor, maybe. anytime someone wants to get a raise, they say "god bless america".

  6. God Bless America! without her where would the 'free' west be?

If the people of America took more notice of what their politicians really stand for and,are doing behind the nation's back, America would be better for it!

We are the same in the UK Democratic, Horses--t.

  7. To quote a line from Sean Connery from The Movie "The Rock"...  "Patriotism is a virtue of the vicious."

Ever since September 11th I have seen the worst kind of Patriots.  Anyone who calls themselves a patriot is clearly a fanatic and I hate them all.

  8. I'm not American, so I don't think I'm qualified to answer this question.

  9. Definitely since 2001. I think it tends to fluctuate though. The government decides to go to war or something big, so they try to get the nation's support by riling the citizens up and the best way to do that would be to unite the people against one main enemy. This is obviously not the first time this blind fervor was stirred up though. Back in the 1940s and 50s during (WWII) the Communist scare. The country, one in patriotism, black listed many of it's citizens and Hollywood stars. Now of course it's the Socialist and Terrorist scare. With that said patriotism sounds like a type of prejudice or fear of something, and when something scares people they tend to get mad and do very unintelligent things such as get angry at some politican for not wearing a flag pin.

  10. could also be an extreme form of nationalism.
