Public Transport is not a last resort for poor people, it is an environmentally friendly, far less stressfull option. most people don't need cars, they just think they do so why all the fuss?

  1. Not everyone has access to public transit. I live in one of the largest metro areas in the country, and public transit doesn't come within 9 miles of my house.

  2. just stop it...i lived on long island new york...it took 2 1/2 hours to go 25 miles... 2 buses and a 20 minute wait. between them.... forget it.

  3. Walking is a fine option, I'll just honk and wave at you as I pass by.

  4. Public Transport provided by Arriva North East is VERY VERY STRESSFUL. Buses rarely run on time, if they turn up at all. They are dirty, and way too small. They are overpriced (£1.10 SINGLE FOR A ONE MILE JOURNEY!!!!), and downright useless.

I would love a car, as Arriva stress me out big time. I complain at least THREE TIMES EVERY WEEK. That is how bad they are!!!!

  5. It all depends on where you live.  In many mid-size and small US cities, public transport is not a substitute for a car, only a supplement.  In larger US cities and many foreign countries, public transport is much better.

  6. People are obssed with driving everywhere because they dont like to walk. Also they might be carrying something that is very heavy, and they dont want to carry it all the way

  7. I agree with you. I don't have a car and can't drive. I use trains and buses to travel all over the U.K. including to many rural areas; although the rural bus services that connect with some of my trains are infrequent, the ability to now find all bus timetables on the internet via the Traveline site or the bus companies' sites, helps with journey planning. Not driving relieves me of further polluting the planet, worries about parking, car theft, and gives me the freedom to have a couple of drinks if I so wish without the fear of prosecution. Most importantly I don't spend half the day sitting in terrible traffic jams and on the train I can sleep, read, work or just look at the scenery.

  8. idk where do you live US?

but the public transportation system is one of the poorest in the world. not $ poor but lacking in quality and quantity.

in other countries that have cars & roads, they have bike lanes, walking paths, trains, buses and trolleys.

the US is far behind in making any allowances for bicycles.

only when the price of gas doubles will these things become a reality.

ppl love their cars because of the freedom they enjoy in the US.   in no other country are you allowed to travel so freely or easily.

if ppl had the option of not owning a car, paying insurance and high gas prices, you would be surprised how

    many would abandon their cars

  9. Public transportatiom where I live is terrible.  Not really cheap either.  Even with traffic driving takes a lot less time to get to where I'm going.

  10. As one who studied and planned for public transportation back in the early 1970's, and used it as well, back in the mid-1970's, I think "the fuss" is over the sense of independence a car owner gets when they can "come and go", when and where they'd like to, without having to  have exact change or some commuter card.  And we like to do it in our own style, not whatever "style" the public planners like I once was, come up with in our attempt to satisfy as many as we can in the most efficient way.  Obviously fuel prices don't matter as much as people whine and ****** about.  God Bless you.

  11. because people are extremely lazy and don't like other people. Especially in the US, we define antisocial. Many area's don't have enough public transportation to get around either.

  12. Its like many things in life, it has it prons and cons. Personally I would like to be able to conmute to my work once in a while without having to drive. That way I can let my car (and my pocket) rest a little bit. Either public transportation or driving your car can be stressful if you live in a big city.

If like me you live in the suburbs you need a car, and one in good shape. You can still be firendly with the environment if you drive a compact car instead of a big bulky SUV. (I know, some people have families and need an SUV or a minivan)
