Question:

Why is everyone so worried about Global Warming?

Why is it that a lot of people are getting so worked up over 'Global Warming' and calling it a climate crisis? The earth is just going through a warming trend that will reverse in most likely 3-15 years. Why can people not look back to the 1920s and 30s when the average temperatures of both the atmosphere and ground were higher than now. And look at the 1960s and 70s when they were worried about an ice age.

I'm not saying that we shouldn't look into more economical resources, but do we really need to call it a crisis? Why can people not stop blindly following people like Al Gore, and start doing their own research and looking at alternative theories. Why can people not just realize the truth of the matter and what is actually happening?

  1. Are you 8th grade class science academic super bowl captain or something?

"Why can['t] people . . . start doing their own research?"

"Why can people not look back to the 1920s and 30s when the average temperatures . . . were higher than now?"

That last statement there really says it all.

I couldn't find that one good wikicommons temperature graph, but this one says enough:

  2. Personally, I think it's a way for us earth lovers to "bang pans" to get people's attention. The earth is going down hill. Has been for many years now. It's not just global warming, its pollution and the tearing down of all the trees etc..

Treating the world like a piece of c**p. It's like we don't care. We expect to treat the earth any way we see fit and expect it to always be here. It just don't work like that. When you get as old as me, look back and remember what the world was like when you were a kid. Note the difference. Things are changing and not for the better. So, those of us that care, we like to yell, scream and sometimes kick people to get their attention to what's going on around them. As far as global warming goes, I'm with you. I don't think it's anything new to the earth, but I do think the world is suffering because of man kind. Can we at least agree on that point?

  3. Because the scientific data clearly proves this is a real problem, mostly caused by us.

It was NOT warmer in the 20s and the 30s.  Scientific data:

discussed in detail, with confirmation, at:

Only a few guys with no data worried about a new ice age in the 70s.  They just got WAY more attention in the media than they deserved, much like the "skeptics" of today.

I don't follow Al Gore, I march along with these guys, who, for a scientist, are good company.

The National Academy of Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Institute of Physics, the American Chemical Society, the American Geophysical Union, the American Meteorological Association, etc.  EVERY major scientific organization.  Calling them "ignorant" is simply not credible.

(Mostly) man made global warming is scientific fact.

  4. it'll give a decrease in living organisms, like us!

  5. You are correct that this global warming fear comes and goes throughout time, but the issue now is that our earth is not recovering like it used to. Animal species are dying at a faster rate than they have before, resources are becoming harder to find, and there are many more people to support than there ever used to be.

A lot of scientists fear that if the earth's surface temperature rises a few degrees more than it is now, it could be catastrophic for a multitude of reasons; too long to put in this answer, frankly.

  6. Everyone is worried about Global Warming because it affects everyone and everything... Adverse effects obviously won't happen overnight like the Hollywood theatrics build up.

This really is not just a warming trend. I know this is new science and obviously deserves critical speculation.. but really.. come on guys..  even the Republicans and Conservatives (Canada) have openly set political goals to reduce our carbon footprint to attract votes. The idea that global warming is a myth, that it is not human-made, etc. etc. were all ploys by right-winged governments who had purely economical interests in maintaining the health of our oil-driven economy. They lost that race.. a really long time ago..

Yes it's true that the earth goes through natural cycles where temperatures change, where tectonic plates shift, etc. However, it is quite clear that there have been significant changes in the climate within the past ten years that point convincing evidence that would suggest that we are speeding up that process.

Take the Mountain Pine Beetle epidemic in North-Interior of British Columbia for example. No cold snap in the last ten years? Hm... coincidence?

If you don't know what I'm talking about, then do your research. You apparently spend a great deal of time researching.. it's evident you could spend a bit more.

  7. Two Words..

    Political Ambitions

  8. okay, there are freaking animals out there dying faster than anyone cud have thot! how cud u not believe it!  its the facts. its all very clearly written in front of us! i hate how some ppl are too dumb to realize. the world is calling for help and while some admirable people are picking up, others are ignoring it or turing off their phones.  the world is practically screaming for help and nobodys doing a fricken thing!  does every fricken polar bear have to die so that people will actually start to listen.  they''ll all be dead before anyone decides thatthere is a problem.  the symtoms are all there and some good people have made a diagnosis that the world is in huge trouble and found it positive.  yet no one thinks the world is important enuff to donate a little money, time, and effort to save this beloved earth.  please help! i want my kids, grand kids, great grand kids, and so on to live in a happy planet where polar bears still exist!  my gosh people do i have to say it any clearer!     THE WORLD NEEDS HELP!

  9. Everyone is NOT worried about 'Global Warming.

There is absolutely NO scientific fact to back up man-caused global warming.  Anyone spouting such is not being truthful!

I just love the man-did-it groupies who spew out that there is consensus among scientists..........................

"Though consensus determines legal and political decisions in most countries, this simply reflects the number of persons who interpret data in a certain way or who have been influenced by the opinions of others. Consensus does not confer accuracy or “rightness”. "

"Scientific matters are certainly not settled by consensus."

" Einstein pointed out that hundreds of people agreeing with him were of no relevance, because it would take just one person to prove him wrong."

"Science is about observation, experiment and the testing of hypotheses, not consensus."

  10. ~Global Warming~

    -we might not survive

-lowlands by oceans would flood (like Florida)

-penguins cannot survive :(  -polar ice caps melt

    -more fires and droughts

    -the equator would be steaming

-deserts and summers would be mega hot

    -more hurricanes

-really warm waters can kill corals

-more spread of disease (like Malaria)

    -and lotta lotta more..........

    lol...short and simple :)

  11. its another way for a political party to make a buck off the middle  and lower class.

Thanks for pointing out it cold in your part of the country.... we got 4 inches of snow here in the state of washington... first time it snowed this late since '72!

but sheeps would dismiss it at being local and not global while they toute hurricane alley as "global" and not local... i seriously think they got dropped twice as babies.

  12. It's propaganda...global warming isn't a proven fact, but people are freaking out over nothing. I never noticed a change in temperature, no one has, but they've already been told what to think...

  13. Have you SEEN what's been happening in weather news the past few years???

The controversy surrounding global warming is whether or not it was caused by man and whether or not we can do anything to reverse it.  But it is happening, any scientist will tell you that.

  14. Please don't be swayed by the people who are gainfully rewarded by our necessity for fossil fuels, dumping in the oceans, rewarding corporations for not conserving or finding alternative, viable sources of fuel, nor the nay sayers about man's  effect upon the environment. The gig is up and until this issue becomes your issue there is no hope for change. Please read the science magazines, learn about climate change, study the findings from the International space lab, consider the facts surrounding your environment before you make a final decision.

If nothing else, go to your town dump and watch how much waste is thrown away and ask where it goes and how is it ultimately disposed. If you come away thinking we are not burning way too much simply by disposing of our disposables then I will concede. But, I can read that you are a person who thinks and can change their mind.

  15. it because it getting hot everyday, it kill animals ,people, new babyand almost everything

  16. in the 30s the temperature was cooler than now. Plus they also didn't have as many hurricanes as we do now. scientists suspect hurricanes come from the ocean heating up and hurr. feed off warm water. so... i also think that the world is so unpredictable that we are incapable of fully understanding GB or climate change or a phase the Earth is going through.

  17. you probably know that air pollution from cars and power plants traps in sun's heat, which causes the warming that's melting icecaps and raising ocean levels (bye Florida and other coastal places) but the main concern is the c**p in the air pollution(mercury, arsenic, etc) that's causing the premature deaths of 30,000-35,000 Americans each year, for example. So with that in mind, we need alternative safe energy (solar, etc.) and reduce our consumption of gas/oil. You with me?

  18. I have worried about global warming. And i have thought about what your suggesting about climate temps being greater previously but i havent done any research. It is a moral panic at the minute. I hope your right.

  19. forget about the 20's that was then, this is now. we cant ask a question to the past when the answer is in the future. in case u havent noticed technology has improved since the 20's there has been more contaminating. it is a crisis we just begun the end of the world. like it or not we cant ignore it, we have to face it.

  20. It's a crisis because it's killing the animals in the Arctic, droughts are happening and people could die because of dehydration and heat wave. It's definetly not a happy time.

  21. I think everyone's worried because we'd rather not die some crazy death due to global warming just because we couldn't clue in enough to do simple things like turning off the lights.

  22. Scientists have differing opinions on this matter.  Global warming certainly will take place about 5 billion years from now when our Sun dies.  And no amount of compact fluorescent light bulbs will prevent the frying of our planet at that time.

  23. they will more taxes

  24. The media make such a fuss about it people get worried.

I think you're right, its just the earth heating up and down.

if the media are right, when the ice age happeaned they were driving cars, yes?

    ")

  25. I am worries for the following reasons, even if it wasn't called Global Warming or Climate Change:

-I care for my environment, not matter what, God only gave us one, and we should respect it.

-I care for future generations, they deserve beautiful mountains, lakes, rivers, and oceans, just as we do  now.

-I care for my fellow citizens, I treat most with equality.

    -And I respect myself.

    Thats why.

God Bless, have a great day
