Question:

Why is everyone talking about a draft now?

I have been watching these forums for some time now and i seem to see a lot of people worried about there being a draft. But as i recall there seemed to be similar sentiment some years back in the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom. As most rational people expected no draft occurred because contrary to popular belief there are still many young men and women with enough of a sense of duty to join up and fight with their countrymen. With the war almost won now and recruitment numbers still great throughout this country why is it that there are still so many kids worried about a draft?

  1. Its just fear-mongering.

Draftees are crappy soldiers, we don't need them.

If we ever needed them, it would be in combat support roles.

  2. With McCain gunning for Iran... AND saying he will re-instate the draft if needed... AND saying we could be in Iraq for 100 years, there IS certainly cause for concern.
