Question:

Why is everyone trying to defend Kobe by saying he's on Team USA for defensive purposes when...?

...he's 0-8 3pt. shooting and 4-6 midrange and missing layups. Against Angola, he didn't even score at all the 1st half. If he's the best offensive player in the World, shouldnt he have been more of a scoring threat? Dwyane Wade and M. Redd seems to be more of an offensive threat than Kobe. He also got quite a bit of travels. Just my observation

  1. What did you prove?

Everyone on the team except Redd are terrible outside shooters.  That team is loaded with superstars, so why do you single him out to score.  If he took a ton of shots, and had a lot of points you would be complaining that he is a ball hog.

You hate Kobe... we get it.

  2. Kobe's performance shows that he is a choker. whenever there's more pressure, Kobe shrinks from the spotlight. if it wasn't for Shaq, Kobe would be Vince Carter today instead of an MJ wannabe.

  3. because he said he is there for defensive purposes. Also it hasnt occured to you that players can have bad games. So stop hating on Kobe and try to have some knowledge on the situation before you blab about something.

  4. Kobe isn't playing his best ball, but I could care less about there performance in the Olympics.   NBA competition is who is the best.  Olympics is just a vacation and down time if you ask me.

  5. Your logic is flawed. So what if Michael Redd and Wade have been more efficient at scoring? Would you honest say that Michael Redd is a better offensive player than Kobe? I think not. Players have bad games, and terrible games, but Kobe is still the player assigned the opposing team's best perimeter scorer.

This is not so much as "Kobe jocking," but more as you Kobe hating.

  6. They're Kobe jockers, so what do you expect. And I completely agree with you

  7. i agree.  i can't understand why people hype little Kobe so much.  he was CRUSHED by the Celtics in the Finals and now that he is standing beside other greats one must realize that he isn't nearly as good a D Wade or Lebrick...

plus he is not the sort of person you want representing the US due to his track record (rape, trade demands, s******g Laker Girls etc, etc)

  8. Carnac my man, I couldn't said it better myself!

  9. yep. he's not scoring well right now. oh well. i guess they just have to settle for beating teams by 26 to 30 points rather than 40 to 50.

  10. hes on the USA for his MVP skills. i dont know whats wrong but everyone in the USA team except for Redd are having a hard time shooting the ball. even lebron hes like 50% from the free throw line.

  11. he really needs to stop trying to be the best on the team. that finger has taken its toll on him. i know how it feels to be a shooter with a broken finger and if he continues to with it injured more and more of these bad games are going to come. he needs to stick to the role he was given so that the US can take the gold

  12. LOL it's true. It's like having Barry Bonds on your team and saying he is just here to lay down bunts. Yet he swings for the fencenes every chance he gets! KObe Sucks and So does his Jocker Fans. They are blind! They don't love B-ball they love Kobe Commercials!

  13. i was having this discussion on a board yesterday...and the guy kept saying "Kobe is there 4 defense, dont just blame him 4 their bad offense, Redd isnt shootin that good"  Its annoying...Kobe needs to get it together...simple

  14. I can easily defend Kobe because clearly the amount of basketball is catching up to him. Even though he stays in great shape and he is such a great competitor he is not superman. So I would expect fatigue and exhaustion to appear in olympic games. Wade actually had plenty of rest from basketball. Kobe played as deep into the playoffs as anyone. He also has played heavy minutes in every game for the Lakers. Personally Coach K should consider resting Kobe and Wade and Lebron against lower caliber countries or at least consider bringing them off the bench and giving more minutes to Tayshaun Prince and other players.

But his main job is too defend the opponent's best player and that's his focus. He really isn't there to score a lot of points there's enough firepower what they lacked in previous competitions was defense. So Kobe is fine and I think we should give him credit for postponing surgery on his finger and sacrificing much needed rest before another grueling NBA season.

Additional: Coach K said that everyone's taking good shots. A couple bad games by Kobe really indicates fatigue not to mention he's not a typical spot up shooter. You take shots when you're open. If you don't people will assume they don't have to guard you and suddenly you're playing four on five and then expecting Kobe to start making shots when he hasn't shot. You can still be a defensive player and take shots.
