Why is eviction legal?

I just feel sorry for the people across the street because their stuff is just sitting outside from an eviction. I've witnessed this many times in my lifetime and

I just think that being evicted is very embarrassing and hurtful for children and families. I mean just to have your personal belongings just sat out there for anyone to rummage through or steal. It just doesn't seem right.

  1. They shold have paid their rent.

I feel sorry for the landlord who worked hard to buy the rental and now these people ripped him off by not paying for monthsof rent.

Once served eviction papers you have weeks to move out.  If the sheriff if movng you out,  you ignored the eviction. SHAME on them for being tossed out and there kids seeing it.

  2. People who were evicted were given ample time and warning to pay their debt to the landlord.  By not paying their rent, they were essentially "stealing" the use of the housing from the rightful owner, and that ain't right either.

Yes, it's sad that for whatever reason they couldn't afford to pay, but they did have warning that they would be evicted, and could have moved their possessions and their families out of the apartment if they could not pay the rent.

  3. its legal because someone is providing a house that they own for use by someone else who made an agreement to pay them a certain amount of money for those services.  if one of the parties breaks the agreement, the  renter not paying his rent, he will be kicked out. or if the landlord does not provide adequate services he will be sued.  its very simple.  if you cant afford a place, don't get it.  if you cant provide the services you say you will, don't rent your place out. its called a contract.  you think people should be able to just live in any ones house that they want without paying anything?

  4. So what do you think, they (and their stuff) should be allowed to stay there indefinately without paying? Yes it is a very sad situation for the family being evicted but they can't just live there for free forever. If you want to feel better perhaps you can invite them to live with you for "a while"? You could store their stuff in your garage or pay $200 a month for a storage locker. Why not? That's what you want the landlord to do!

  5. It's legal so that owners have some recourse when they're not being paid.  It's also legal for times when the tenants belongings are not couches and clothes but rather meth equipment and crack pipes.

  6. This is just part of life.  That's why it's so important to stay in school, go to college and get a good job.

  7. You should be glad we have laws that deal with this. They had at the least ten days to get their stuff and go. And you could have let them move in with you, but you choose to look out your window and watch people pilfer their stuff.

  8. Because the people being evicted were stealing a place to live.  If eviction was illegal then there would be NO homes to rent, everyone would either have to own property or live on the street.

That's because anyone who owned property would be stupid to rent it out.  If you can't throw people out for failure to pay their rent then people would simply move in and stop paying it.  That means the landlords would have to pay for their housing for them.

The other ways to get evicted are mostly criminal activities.  Landlords don't kick out good tenants.  I'm sorry if you think it's rude but people who get evicted are not victims, they brought it on themselves.

  9. Because some tenants do not pay the rent.

  10. If you want to dance, you gotta pay the band

  11. Because you own the property and the person signs the agreement saying "yes I will pay you monthly, quarterly or yearly". When you do not pay the person had the right to kick you out.

Also, if the occupant breaks any rule of the person who is renting or leasing the property they reserve the right to give a warning or evict.

All in all it boils down to if you own the property you can do what you want, it's your property and if the occupant is making a ruckus you reserve the right to handle it by eviction.

  12. I agree with Americanfreeman.  Landlords strive to keep they're properties rented, after all if they're vacant they're not making any money, thus very few maliciously evict their tenants.  Why should someone have the legal right to live on someone else's property for free or while damaging it?

Actually, I agree with everyone above me, when I initially started, there was only one answer.
