  1. science is growing and gaining more prestige..with DNA and all scientific issues like the stem cell reseaerch...people later on look for more reasoning and want things explained. that is why evolution is becoming more and more credible because it can be seen through 'human context'

  2. evolution is a fact. you baptists need to realize that.

  3. because it  grew those legs and evolved past it

  4. I don't agree that evolution is surpassing religion. I for one believe in both in that our bodies evolved from lower forms of life and that God mitigated that evolution at a certain point by infusing us with a spirit and free will - two of His own characteristics, making us, as humans, in His own image. In the archaeological records this mitigation seems to have occurred about 60,000 years ago, when man began his odyssey from Africa and began using Art, complex tools and language.

Current time is still too filled with our evolved bodies' cravings for gluttony, s*x, jealousy, envy, sloth, anger and pride. Hopefully the future will lessen our tendencies to destroy anything and everyone that "threatens" us.

We, as the Children of God, need to surpass our evolution.

  5. How exactly does evolution surpass religion?

I have yet to see a valid argument as to how evolution replaces religion.

Fundamentalists, Creationists et al feel threatened by such scientific theories because:

               1) They interpret the holy texts literary, focusing too much on elements that are actually insignificant compared to exercising basic Christian virtues such as love, compassion, understanding, not being judgmental, lending a helping hand and a whole lot of other things - which, by the way, they don't feel the need to work on, even though their Faith, which they defend so vigorously, obliges them to.

               2) They don't really understand processes of evolution and choose not to educate themselves. That's being judgmental. If they had the open mindedness to actually stop, read, listen and think, they'd see religion and science are two completely different things. Apples and oranges.

Curiously, I live in Europe and never met a single Creationist. People here just don't seem to get evolution and faith mixed up, or aren't as vocal about it anyway. It seems to me to be a big issue in the U.S. Maybe your educational system isn't effective enough in pointing the difference between religion and spirituality, religion and science, evidence and proof, theory and law? Not to mention the importance of separation of church and state.

  6. Because it is science.

  7. Well sir people nowadays don't rely on religion or simply 'hope.'  Technology is rising and less people are religious compared to 1500s etc.

Evolution is a theory that can be understood that can be based on fact- trial and error.

Religion is what you would consider faith, if your Christian.

Like Noah's Arc- Whatever of every animal landed on the boat.  So how did the world become how it is today from that small boat in such a short matter of time?  Let me take a guess, every creature was s*x-craved and had plenty of offsprings.  And amongst the humans a race popped up (Italian, Greek, Irish, Japanese) Nawt....

Thats why you have to apply faith to it.

Some people believe prayers in general work, some don't.  People who do is misguided and perceive it in a wrong way.

"whoopdey do I'm happy" again all in the mind, people rely Him as an imaginary friend to guide through troubles which is less common today than before.

Evolution is easy to understand and is reliable.  When Christianity is dependent on faith.

Other thoughts:  People apply religion as "the purpose of life"

serve God and all that other bool.  I believe it is to be happy in life without regrets at the end because there is no life after death.  Make a positive difference in the world.  Working well with others, love, friendship, happiness,  pleasures, good times, etc.  Also importantly being a successful, doesn't mean you got to be Abraham Lincoln, Britney Spears, Bill Gates, Mother Theresa, and even Nautica Thorn.=P  Just don't be an Adolf.

Even if you don't believe in God don't be an a$$hole about it and go about raping women, stealing, etc.- simply being immoral.  That's not what life is about.

EDIT: Forgot to mention I don't believe in God, for people who don't find it obvious.

  8. Because people have been educated to believe in the lies of evolution so much over the past century, they believe it....

  9. Its not.

Evolution is NOT fact. Its theory with huge leaps of assumption or "educated guess". In my opinion it takes far more faith to believe in somthing with no fact that supports it, like evolution, than that of creationism which has several books to back it up.

    Try reading Ken Hamm.

  10. Because evolution offers a naturalistic explanation and that is the way science works. In my opinion, the cambrian explosion blows macroevolution out of the water. Also the discovery of DNA. I think intelligent design works best in our current situation but since it is not a naturalistic exlanation, it will never be held in the schools.

  11. It's not.

  12. Because of seperation of church and state, evolution is what is being taught in school and not creationism. Also, some people think it makes more sense than creationism because there is more evidence than just a book (the bible).

  13. WHY DO YOU THINK EVOLUTION OPPOSES RELIGION?  It does not.  But the reason evolution is generally becoming more obvious is because evidence for it is accumulating greatly.  We see evolution happening rapidly in bacteria, and with a simple understanding of genetics and a little bit of reasoning it is not that hard to comprehend.  Those who do not "believe in" evolution are not concerned with evidence, and are usually narrow-minded and ill-knowledged on the subject.

  14. bcause evolution is the belief of the enlightened white man while religion and superstition is for the weaker mind, e.g. the negro and the hispanic
