Question:

Why is fan running all the time at start up?

In the past 2 weeks everytime I start my computer the fan is coming on but nothing else is operating. I shut it off, wait 10-15 minutes, turn it back on and this continues for several more tries. I then turn it on and wait a minute or two and push the off button for 2-3 secinds and it powers up. I have no idea what is wrong. I defrag, run virus software, use registry software and clear out what is not needed ALL on a regular basis. What could be the problem and should I take it to my computer guy to have it looked at? Thanks. I am using Windows XP Version 2.

  1. It could be a number of things. Do you have an AMD processer, because these run hotter than intel processers do. Is it a laptop if so is it an inexpensive brand? The problem could be as simple as a good cleaning via a can of compressed air. But if all else fail see an IT.
