  1. Technology is important, but it can still only enhance a farmer's production. GPS guidance can reduce a grower's costs by eliminating overlaps, which would double chemical/fertilizer application in the overlapped area. This also reduces fuel consumption and costs, as it would eliminate unnecessary passes across a field. When used in conjunction with soil sampling, fertilizer can be applied only to the areas of the field that require it, and only in the needed amounts. I give the example of GPS because it is the fastest growing technological segment in agriculture today, although technology takes many shapes. The thing technology cannot do, though, is replace the farmer. A good farmer knows when to plant his/her crops in conjunction with soil and weather conditions, and when to harvest to maximize the crop's value, to himself/herself and to the final consumer. A good farmer also is a good steward of the land, taking care of it so it will be productive for generations to come.

  2. A lot more people eating + we are using land to produce  fuel  at a very expensive wasteful ideal

  3. Because of growing human population

  4. ok the positives well it depends on what part of agriculture your looking at, what market and that , but ill state some anyways

    > Technology has helped increase production on farms across the world

    > Technology has and is helping us with problems in the industry, such as with fruit diseases and cattle sicknesses, they have helped us to eradicate most of these problems

    > Technology has helped farmers keep track of production, computer programing for an example can help farmers with keeping track of cattle etc

    > Technology has helped with the evolution of our machinery and tractors etc,

    Some bad things

    > The technology is not always 100% fool proof

    > Technology does cause problems on farms in some cases  where it doesnt work properly ect

    > I believe in some cases technology is taking over our farms, with GPS in tractors all you have to do now in tractors with this technology is sit back and watch the gauges, which is something i dont like , it doesnt make us into true farmers, and i think some technology's in the agricultural industry are making us more lazy with our farming jobs ect. Soon if we dont draw a line on how far technology can go , well in the very distant future farmers might be all replaced by technology, and that would be a very very sad and disappointing thing

well ive hoped ive helped ya , can i please have the best answer points please

  5. Because so many people in our huge population are involved in non-farming pursuits the people that specialize in agricultural production need to provide food for all these others and must do so in a way that maximizes product with a minimal work force. It is more than technology though as we need to rely on age old concepts and ideas to protect our assets; that land and water that keeps us alive. We look to nature and Her methods.
