Why is finding a room in a sharehouse so hard in melbourne at the moment!?

Question

i've been looking in Carlton North, Fitzroy, Collingwood, Brunswick on gumtree.com and the rooms seem to get taken within hours. Does anyone know any other good website (there's heaps of **** ones out there) other than gumtree. I have to be out of my place within days and its getting rather desperate. ready to cry seriously....and im a pretty cool 25 yr old lad

i have been battling this problem for several weeks now. More so the fact that i recently moved to melbourne. At this time, i'm heading towards a monthly rent of $1,338 for a fully furnished studio apt in flinders....yikes!!!!
