  1. china was made in England because we had china clay ... there was plenty in Cornwall, like where the Eden Project is (it is built in a disused clay pit and accounts for the eerie white pyramid-shaped spoil heaps in that area) ... I say WAS made in England because we don't do very much of it any more

    yes, china the clay and china the crockery that is made from it is named after China the country, from where we first learned how to look for this special type of naturally-occurring clay which can be potted very thinly yet be very strong
