Why is food an drink so expensive in Scandinavia?(Sweden, Norway ect.)?

  1. I don't think it's because it's imported. Swedish food is often more expensive than imported food in Sweden.

    If you're referring to eating out, it might just be that there are less people eating out here on a every day basis.

    It could also be that you don't have any sales taxes on food in your country. There is a 12% sales tax on food in Sweden. It's even more on most other goods though (25%).


  2. Yes majority is imported    .  Was the same many years ago.  nothing new about it  ..   Ok not so dear if you just rely on home produced items    

  3. everything is more expensive there.  not only food and drink.  i forget exactly what the explanation is but a friend from norway explained it to me once.  there economy is just different.  people there also make alot more money.

    my friends went to visit her family since she and her brother were exchange students and they spent 100$ on burger king

  4. Perhaps because much is imported.  I found the same, and often wondered why.
