Why is food so tasteless as one gets older?

do our taste buds change,or has the food we produce these days lost it,s flavour due to the way it,s produced.(take out salt and it,s so bland). Is profit the driving force?m

as we age our senses numb - you cannot hear as well, circulation becomes poorer and taste buds are effected too. Sadly it just happens with age :(

But if you stay healthy and look after yourself you can slow the process down.

Firstly, do you smoke?

Secondly, no, if you are eating organic then the flavour of food won't reduce dependent on age, general supermarket stuff would have less flavour because of processes but market bought should be normal.

Try strong herbs and spices, how ever old you get!

MM...i recently quit smoking 6 months ago and food tastes soooooooo much better...but im only 22..so i dunno

I think your taste buds change because as you get older you need fewer calories and it is your body's way of helping you to control your calorie intake.

No, your age is the driving force. The senses weaken every decade a person is alive.

I don't think it's the food - I think it's US! As we age the taste buds are beginning to feel a bit sorry for themselves and you have to spice the food up a bit - but then the stomach starts to complain because it's not used to spicy foods....

It's much the same with the ears. As we age, our hearing drops, especially in the high frequencies - so all those expensive Dolby outfits don't do much for us once we're past 40!

No its ourselves , as we grow older the testbuds die off so we don't get the taste , why do you think adults can drink wine but children find it sour ?

Smoking dulls the taste buds. So if you smoke thats your answer. If you don't then i'm sorry IDK.
