  1. I would imagine it is due to the Turkish Lyra's value compared to that of the Euro.

  2. It is not only France, other countries as for example Germany are against it. The principal reason has to do with the human rights: As for example Christians still having problems by living their religion in public. The way women are treated especially forced marriage. The situation in the prison system  etc.

As long those issues are not resolved there are not so many possibilities for Turkey to become a EU-Member.

An other reason hat to do with geographical and cultural issues as for example, just a tiny part Turkey's is in Europe, most of it belongs actually to Asia and the culture has nothing to do with the European way of thinking and living.

I think the most important reason is the human rights problem. Europe has a long history before achieving the current standard in the human rights matter and it would not be fair to accept as member a country with so many problems in this point.

  3. It not France against Turkey joining the EU. It Germany they have three million Turks living in Germany alone. Most of the EU don't think Turkey is ready for membership of the EU. The reason given are:

    Bad human rights records

How the Turks reacted to the Danish cartoon, and burning down EU offices there.

The protest of the Pope visit to Turkey.

Other reasons are the political reform program of the Erdoğan government continued. This included the abolition of the capital punishment, crackdown on torture, and more rights for its Kurdish population. continuing religious and ethnic discrimination.

The Turkish government's refusal to officially recognize the state of Cyprus.

Only 3% of Turkey's territory lies in geographical Europe.

Discrimination of g**s and transgender people appears still widespread. Important groups in the European Parliament have urged Turkey to recognize the Armenian deaths in the Ottoman Empire during World War I as genocide, see Armenian Genocide. Turkey denies responsibility,

  4. READ MY LIPS-Turkey is not a European country and has always been against Europe , they are not European , they are infesting Europe and they DO NOT BELONG IN THE EUROPEAN UNION AT ALL. TURKEY SHOULD NEVER BECOME PART OF THE EUROPEAN UNION. They have a rich history and culture, but they are not European. I also think that Turkey's current state is not fit to be part of the European Union, they have problems they should address. Another country that shouldn't become part of the EU is Russia, they are European , but they have always been against countries like Poland, and the Eastern bloc and because of this they also shouldn't become part of the EU.

  5. Political Correctness is the Incubator of Islamism

Time and again we are told by the politically correct “experts” not to worry about Islam posing a threat to our way of life. We are repeatedly lectured that only a very small minority of Muslims are troublemakers who are giving the peaceful masses of Muslims a bad name. We are also informed that the terrorists, who happened to be Muslims, are the disaffected and the young. And not to worry, since as the fire of youth turns to ashes of old age the rebellious will mellow, as they always have.

With heavy assurances like this, coming from so many know-it-all authoritative figures, we can sleep soundly without the aid of sleeping pills. After all, people reason that these pundits are “experts” whose job is to know and tell it like it is. Those who voice contrary views must be a bunch of racist, alarmist hate mongers. Who is right?

Wouldn’t be more prudent to let the facts settle the matter, rather than blindly accepting either position? Of course it would, except for one huge problem. In the face of threats, people tend to go to the mind’s medicine cabinet and take a few denial and rationalization pills, in the same way that it is the aspirin bottle they turn to when a headache strikes. Why not? We are the Easy Species. We love effortless, quick and simple solutions. And that’s not invariably bad. It has given us all kinds of labor and time saving devices.

Yet, the Islam problem is very real and deadly. Neither the pronouncements of the experts, nor the tranquilizing pills of the mind can make it go away. It is here and it shows every sign of imposing itself on us.

Europe is already badly infected with Islamism. It is the coal-miners’ canary. It is telling us that the next stop is America. We must act and act now. We must not sacrifice our cherished way of life and the lives of our children at the altar of political correctness: the incubator of Islamofascism.

  6. A. Its barely in Europe and shares extremely little with even some of the eastern European countries

    B. Armenian genocide still unrecognized

    C. Muslim population- unlike anywhere else

    My guesses...

  7. Armenian Lobby to the concise. They want Turkey to admit to something that never happened and Armenia doesn't want to press formal charges to back up their claims. So they use their Diasporas abroad to bar Turkey's via France, ascension to the EU.

  8. Armenian lobby has quite an effect too, keeping in mind Turkey wouldn't accept the genocide against them, despite all the other issues including political instability, population over load, human right issues of all sorts and presumably the social differences.

  9. i doubt turkey will join the EU, Turkey will chicken out. lol

  10. They think Turkey is unworthy, and for some good reasons, least of which that they're not so enlightened

  11. One turkey in the Union is enough...

  12. To add to what everyone else has said, there is also the issue of labor. In France and other countries, they are concerned that they will lose their jobs to the people in Turkey, who may work for lower wages or whatever.

  13. Why Turkey member for EU

    1. Turkey is only secular country which has Muslim population.

    3. Turkey has strong links ( same religion and language)  between Mid Asia Turkic Countries like Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan. These strong links must be used to developer EU trade. These countries have large energy sources.

4.Black sea and east Mediterranean , middle east domination and peace can be achieved by Turkey's integration..

5.Most of Turkish people want to integrate with Europe.
