Why is frictional unemployment deemed desirable?

  1. a certain amount of frictional unemployment, or job search unemployment, is desireable to maintain an efficient allocation of resources.   If we consider unemployment to be horrible and have no conventions to help assist people in job searches and to survive unemployment, people would stay in jobs that do not take advantage of their skills and the total productivity of our society will be less than if we have an appropriate amount of movement between jobs as people develop new skills or the employer's needs change
