why is gas right down my street 3.93? but the gas down another road only a few miles away in a poorer area is 3.77? why does it matter where you live that determine price? its the same or more demand than when in higher income areas, so how can they charge that much more?

and why is gas going up BEFORE memorial day weekend and not during it when theres no real needed demand for it?

  1. I'll add to the higher overhead theory:  Gas stations in poorer neighborhoods are less regulated - citizens complain less about tainted water supplies from leaking underground storage tanks, runoff and fumes.

  2. Price gouging, guess what, it went up $.15 from Thrusday to Friday just for guess what, good ole Memorial day...

  3. Truth sleuth is right:  higher overhead.

But you CAN'T boycott Exxon-Mobil unless:

The fuel in your area, including that at any Exxon-Mobil stations, doesn't actually come from fields run by, or refineries owned by Exxon-Mobil

    OR

    You stop buying gasoline/diesel altogether

And you're still supporting them at some level when you buy ANYTHING else of any kind.

  4. gas stations that sit on higher priced real estate has more expenses like taxes.

    Let's boycott Exxon-Mobil

  5. It probably goes up before AND during. Because some people know that gas will go up during a holiday time, so they'll make sure to fill up earlier to avoid the price. Well don't you think they don't know that as well? So they raise it earlier too. Plus, some people want to fill up before a long trip which may be a few days before the holiday. I have a four day weekend and could have gone on a short trip. (Was about to, but decided to go hiking instead.)
