Oh, and it would be so positively horrible if we just cleaned up our act and made the air a bit easier to breath, the water a bit more drinkable, and life a bit more nicer? Silly me, thinking that even if we weren't a 'significant' cause of Global Warming, that trying to clean up our airs would just be disgusting. My bad.

Maybe because they dont care, however some people do, but other people just dont pay attention to how its effecting others that care.

Because there is no evidence that we are contributing anything significant to global warming. And since this is the case, why would we spend money on something we have no control of?

Because the only opponents of man-made global warming are not scientifically credible or either they are being paid off by neo-cons, lobbyists, oil companies, etc.

It is easier to point to the people who care (and there are plenty of them OTHER than Al Gore, so don't give me some BS about how he's a hypocrite) and call them traitors or liars than to take a long, hard look at the facts and make some real changes to our lifestyles.  It's too much trouble and might (OMG!!!) make us lose some dollars.  

God forbid we lose a f@&!ing dollar.

Because it is more a hysteria then a proven scientific fact.

We are all told it is the concensus of scientists that back your beliefs..

Well concencus is not science it is a simple majority.  That majority of scientists have specialties that aren't relevant to the subject. Check the website of the US Climetologists. (the science that studies climate change)  Only 40% believe in gloval warming.

Science presents a hypothesis that then needs to be proven by fact.  Consensus has nothing to do with it.  The concensus of scientific theory in their time believed  the world was flat.  The most elite scientists of their day believed the sun revolved around the earth. In the 1950's the consensus of scientists believed we were entering a new ice age.

I have no idea whether we are entering a warming period or a cooling period.  I do know that burning fossile fuels, driving SUVs or that cows farting,  or over population is not the cause of warming or cooling.  I do know that the Artic is melting but the Antartic ice field is growing.  I do know that the Vikings has a sucessfull agricultural economy in Greenland in the year 800 but by the year 1000 it was too cold for agriculture and by 1200 Greenland was abandoned,

I also know that North America was a tropical world at one time and that the hottest years ever recorded in American history were the three years starting in 1930, 31 and 32.  The dust bowl years.

I am just trying to point out that climate change is cyclical, always has been and always will be whether humans exist or not.

The sun is the engine of all climate change and always will be.

We have no control of it. However Chicken Little rules the world of global warmologists.  Al Gore is their high priest

And lemmings, like yourself,  are following blindly over the cliff. "Hey whats that sound? Everybody look around, at whats goin down"  

Thats why we do not believe. We think for ourselves. Have a little tolerance.

MUFFY - Crazycon -- We now refer to global warming as climate change.  It is happening and is well documented in the north.  The pack ice is thinning.  The freeze-up in the Beaufort Sea was about a month late.  Permafrost is melting causing landslides and buildings to sink.  Forest pests are moving north.  Badgers, notably are moving north and it is expected that salmon will move northward too.  Sure we still have cold spells and warm spells.  The climate hasn't changed much yet but we are seeing more extreme weather and this includes cold.

All the computer simulations are pretty much aligned and showing what is happening. These coming events are agreed upon by thousands of scientists worldwide.  It is well documented that most of the science deniers were well paid, under the table, by oil companies.  The media missed the boat with balanced information by giving as much value to one denier as was given hundreds of scientists showing the evidence.  Don't be misinformed.  The information is all around.

I think people are starting to realize that global warming is affecting us as you can see the temperatures are increasing at a rapid phase comparing to years ago. I think what people do know about global warming but do not want to change their lifestyles that they had been to accustomed to. Saying " Since is not going to affect our generation I don't care" That's whats sad about some people. On the bright side more more people are starting to recognize this problem and are starting to be more aware about the environment. But as for now we are slowly trying to make people change and in order to do that I think if we should teach younger generations about our environmental problems they will sure make a difference and thus minimize pollution in the future.

The reason for the confusion is the definition of global warming. The media has not helped anyone to understand the base meaning. One day we talk about oil. The next we talk about C02. Then Its light bulbs. We as a whole are confused. Lets talk about Nato and thier report. C02 all over it but what about Methenal or water vaper? These have a higher affect than C02. All these great minds but no real info. If it was all about C02 then how is it that we (Humans) have brought the end when one Volcano puts more C02 in the air than all of man kind since the beginning? Just thought!

Let me start off by saying we (my family and I) live 100% off of the grid and are completely self-sufficient with a 0% Carbon footprint. I believe this is the first step anyone can make “help the environment”. Once you convert your own life style to a greener more eco friendly route, you can start helping others.

We definitely didn't start global warming, but we definitely do contribute to it now.

Natural gas (or Methane along with other thanes) for example, is completely a natural contributer to global warming and is derived pretty much the same way as oil. ie. Matter (animal, plant etc) decomposes over time resulting in a anaerobic (hope I spelled that right) decay of non-fossil organic material / gas (natural gas or methane).

One problem with global warming is that the concept is so vague in the minds of the people. The critical interpretation is basically how it’s explained in school and the news. However most of the public see global warming connected with the ozone and pollutants which cause harmful greenhouse gasses, etc. therefore investigating and fighting for things like alternative energy (ie. Solar, wind, hydrogen, ethanol, biodiesel, etc)

Greenhouse gases are real and do contribute to global warming. Think of the different gas layers like ozone (o3) that circumference the globe as the clear plastic on a greenhouse. Longer rays of light from the Sun go in and reflect off different thermal masses bouncing back and creating shorter lengths of energy that cannot exist the plastic barrier. These beams then just continue to bounce around inside the green house until they’re finally absorbed completely (some do escape but very few), thereby warming the greenhouse greatly even in cold temperatures.

Basically there are 2 ways that this reaction (or lack of) affects the planet. Global warming and global cooling.

1. as we add to the gases in the stratosphere, where the ozone layer is (Carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, etc), we add to the plastic of the greenhouse, trapping more short wave length energy and heating the earth more.

2. as we deplete the ozone (with chlorofluorocarbons or CFCs), we allow more long wave length energy, which bounces back out to space without heating any thermal masses on earth, thereby cooling the planet.

It’s pretty easy to see the results..

Great hurricanes & cyclones

Seasonal extremes

Seasonal phenomena’s

Species extinction

New & resurgent diseases

There are many ways to stop both global warming and cooling from accruing or at least slow them down until we can discover a way to reverse it, but Stop burning fossil fuels is the biggest.

I currently own 2 converted h2 vehicles which run on 100% hydrogen and 1 EV (electric vehicle), not to mention our home is completely off the grid, using alternative energy (solar, wind, etc)
