Question:

Why is green tea supposed to be so good for you?

What does it do and how often should you drink it? Just interested to know as some people I know are singing its praises. Does it really give you more energy?

  1. Yes, I don't know really how it works but I surely feel better after a spot of green tea... my favourite is exotic sencha - japanese green tea :)


  2. Because it's high in anti-oxidants that rid the body of free-radicals....although what that means exactly I havnt got a clue

  3. it also helps digestion, and speed your metabolism bu very little so its not like u are going to loose lots of waight.

  4. green tea is really good for you because it reduces your chances of Alzheimer's disease (causes dementia),  it fights of common sicknesses such as the cold and flu, and it increases your metabolism and oxidizes (burns up) with out increases your chance of heart disease like most metabolism pills do if you don't drink it you should start of at 1-2 cups a day and eventually make your way up to a maximum of 6 cups if you want to drop weight in a blink of the eye.

  6. It is high in antioxidants but also is a low caffeine product compared to others like coffee.

    Some companies are able to naturally decaffeinate the tea which makes it great to drink.  Some companies say they do this but they really dilute it which weakens the tea.

    I take green tea every day, 2 x's a day.  It is the main ingredient in my liquid vitamin and mineral supplement.

  8. Green tea has become popular recently for two reasons. It's pseudo curative powers and association with the mysticism of the Orient seem to give it a fashionable attraction. People think that drinking green tea is cool, healthy and energy giving.

    The health aspect is associated with the slightly bizarre, and as yet unproven, theory that the body contains free radicals that need mopping up (you'll notice the phrase is often 'mopping up') to prevent the body from ageing.

    Energy comes from the psyche. The idea that if we take 'energy foods' we will have a lot of energy is scientifically rubbish. (Although all the vendors of energy drinks might tell you otherwise.) Foods that 'provide' energy are like placebo drugs - if you think they'll work, then they will. But green tea is not much different from black tea in this respect.

    So you've heard people talking about how good it is. Well, when you buy something as expensive as green tea with the expectation that it's going to make you feel marvellous you're hardly going to complain if nothing happens - and besides my darling, it's soooo trendy!

    Then we need to think about the sellers of green tea who push it very hard on all sorts of spurious grounds - except the one they don't mention - profit!!

    I've just visited the 'greentealovers' site and have never read so much pseudo scientific garbage in my life. Yes, green tea is drunk in Japan and China where cancer is low, but the reasons for low cancer have little to do with the green tea.
