Why is hair called hair on a human but fur on animals when its the same thing?

Hair and fur are the same so why when its on a human its called hair and when its on a animal its called fur.

  1. They are not the same.  One example is exchanging summer fur for winter fur.  That requires a biology totally different from Homo sapiens.

    hair continues to grown until it is cut

    fur will fall out after it reaches a certain length depending on the animal

    (thats why cats and other animals don't get haircuts)
