Why is hatton overratted?

he hasnt fought any good boxers apart from mayweather and Juan Urango. but if hatton faced Juan Urango again. he will get KO

He's overrated because most of his notable wins were over fighters on the downside of their careers.   Mayweather destroyed him & most Hatton fans thought he had a chance.   I would like to see him fight Pacquio,  I know pac-man is a lighter weight but he's a fighter & he doesn't make up excuses like Hatton did saying the 7lbs he went up to fight Mayweather gave him problems.   Why doesn't he fight Cotto, Margarito, Paul Williams, or Cintron.  All those guys are at 147lbs & I'm sure Cotto would be a mega fight.   He wants to handpick his opponents & wait until they are almost retired.   Better yet fight old Shane Mosley & let's see what happens.   I bet Shane Mosley makes him look worse than Mayweather did because he hits harder.

According to you he isn't. You contradict the question you ask. Do you think that others opinions are more valuable than yours? Yet you state your opinion about him publicly. Some people think he is a champion (because of the many titles he has won) but you think he is not. So what a non-question you have asked.

simple answer - he's british. the british have very few genuine 'world class' athletes. and everytime someone comes along who shows any amount of talent in their area the british media blow them up as the next world superstar. this is totally unfair on the athletes themselves because the pressure they are under is extreme.  and unfortunatley hatton falls under this category.  only difference is, he has fallen into the trap and actually believes he's world class.  the guy is a good boxer and i enjoy watching him but world class he is not.

on a personal note, i believe he aint a world class boxer cos he doesnt have a jab.  how can any boxer be considered world class without a jab?? unbelieveable..

Juan Urango was tough but nothing special. How can you put him above greats like Jose castillo (albeit past his best) and tsyzu. To overlook these fighters and mention Urango says it all am afraid

I don't really like Hatton, but I don't think he's overrated.  He's a solid fighter.  He beat the people he was suppose to beat.  Floyd was the best in the game until he retired, so I didn't really expect Hatton to beat him, but he put on a good show.

Ricky Hatton is a pure champion - he has the heart, the desire, the guts to get in the ring and he remembers the most important thing in life - his family! If this world was full of people like Ricky Hatton, it would be a much nice place to live! He remembers his roots, keeps the same friends etc..

On a boxing note, he has produced some magnificent performances especially kostya Tzuya which you failed to mention as above. If you really think he is so over-rated (or overratted as you put in your question) I suggest you put yourself in a ring against him if you think you could do any better!!

Mayweather is a different class altogether, it is like putting Man Utd against Accrington Stanley's Ladies team - massive gulf in class but Hatton has my respect as he showed his ambition, desire to do a good job and was a consumate professional afterwards when he congratulated Mayweather as a winner!!

In my opinion, If any boxer is over-rated, then surely it has to be Khan - hand picked fights, designed for media (ITV) and a complete farce in order to ensure he "wins".

You show your boxing knowledge by ranking Urango as a better boxer than two greats and future hall of famers in Castillo and Tszyu. Urango is a decent fighter who has just come off a very good victory but in all honesty Hatton gave Urango a boxing lesson, i agree that Juan shook Ricky in about the 5th but from that point on i cant remember him getting anywhere near him it was a very one sided fight and comprehensive victory, why would you possibly think the result would be any different now. Hatton is the best Light Welterweight in the world and has been for a good few years now and he has proved this by beating everyone in the division, he isnt claiming to be the best pound for pound and neither are his fans or the British media i dont see how he can possibly be overated, by who ????????
