my district partner and i are wondering why this is such a coveted certification...glocks are easy firearms to break down and reassemble and clean...is there more to it than what the section and exploded drawings show??

  1. Being a certified armorer for any weapons system is a coveted accomplishment.

I assume by stating that "GLOCKS are easy firearms to break down and clean" you give away your lack of understanding what it is an armorer actually does, or is qualified to do. Indeed there is far more than a few simple wire diagrams show.

A GLOCK pistol may break down into 4 major frame parts for the everyday user, but an armorer is qualified to break the entire firearm down, adjust sights and fix/adjust all parts etc.

As they're qualified they're also covered by GLOCK for any faults/problems encountered etc, a good idea for a Law Enforcement Department that has a contract with GLOCK pistols.

Think of it this way...you may be good with a cars engine and making simple repairs, but a mechanic is a properly qualified expert that is covered by the manufacturers warranty etc for their work on a vehicle.
