  1. suspension - defined as to keep from falling or sinking by some invisible support (as buoyancy)

    Haze is "suspended" in the air, because the particles it is composed of have little movement... and therefore appear to hang in the air.

Haze is a suspension in the air of extremely small,dry particles invisible to the naked eye and sufficiently numerous to give the air an opalescent appearance.The particles are so small that they sometimes cause differential scattering of sunlight and  to contribute,for example,to sunrise and sunset colours.As the particles are so small they remain in suspension in the air.
