  1. Who knows. Mabey the producers were Stoned when they came up with the name.

  2. The "Winnie" part comes from Winnipeg.  Apparently, the original author, AA Milne, took the "Pooh" part from another of his characters, a swan.

  5. no his name is winnie and he is a pooh bear not poo

  6. Winnie the Pooh was named after Winnipeg, Canada by his owner who was a soldier in WW1,  who was from Winnipeg. He apparently bought the bear for $ 20.00 , anyway he was not allowed to take the bear to France so he gave the bear to a zoo in London, England, A little boy named Christopher Robin loved the bear and called him Winnnie the Pooh. The name stayed as such and so history was made for his name. Oh and to my knowledge the bear did not have an odour in referrence to his name. The soldier originally just called him Winnie, it was Christopher Robin who added the Pooh.

  7. Milne's son had a pet bear, obtained in Winnipeg. Just a young child's mispronunciation of Winnipeg Bear.
