Why is high school so hard?

I went to this school for 7th and 8th grade. But then I left and went to a private school in 9th. And hated it so I went back for 10th grade. Today was my first day. And I saw a lot of people that I lost contact with last year that were my best friends since 2nd grade and a lot of them seemed totally different! But there were some that were the same. I just wanted to know if anyone else knows why high school is so hard? I am freaking because I don't want to be like all alone for the next three years of high school! None of my friends are in any of my classes and I don't know any one in my classes and I tried making friends with some but they weren't all that nice to me. What should I do? Should I change my classes and be with my friends like a lot of other people are? Or should I stick it out? I'm only asking because its Wednesday and tomorrow will be thursday and I have to change the classes by latest friday. So what should I do? Thank you! :)

  1. Hey,

It depends on the person. For example when I was in High School... maintaining business, 7 class homeworks and extra curriculum activities basically took my breath out.

So, yea, I hated my high school and still do :p

But someone who only cares about school and school stuff, then he probably enjoyed it.

It depends entirely on you and your future goals. For example if you are confident what to do with your future, then stick to the classes that will take you there.

But if you are still undecided or just don't care, go and live a little :).

In college, believe me, it's a new beginning.

  2. High school paves your future. If you decide to take hard classes and do well, you will get into a good college, which in turn will maximize the chances that you'll have a good paying job. If you decide to slack and take the easy way out, well you obviously won't get into any high ranked colleges and your chances of getting a good paying job become less. So it's in your best interest to take the hard classes, but if you think you can't handle it and will end up getting C's and D's....well don't do that..

  3. So your saying that high school is hard in a social aspect?  Not because of the school work or anything but because you cannot be with your friends in the same class?  At the end of the day, your there for YOU and not anybody else, that's who your going to school for, not your friends, take care of you and do whats right for you, focus on getting a good education for yourself and that includes being in classes that are right for you and not because your friends are in it.  At the end of it all, its every man for himself and you will all graduate and your friends will go their separate ways.  Yes, you may make friends along the way, friendships that may even last past high school, but don't focus too much on that, relationships will come naturally.  Study hard and intend on being successful, trust me, once you've achieved success, friends will come flocking around you.

  4. worry about your education first then your friends. if you like the teacher, stay

  5. my first day as a freshmen was tuesday (sort of it was freshmen oriteation) but yea its hard because teachers are getting you ready for college and what you want to do with your life there is so many things to cover in high school that weren't covered in other grades and need to be learned because you have to have a good edition to go to college or another good school after you graduate

  6. High school is where you meet some of your life long friends, its only the beginning, you just gotta be confident and give it a chance. im sure there are tons and tons of other freshman feel like you do, they just probably dont show it.

hang in there, you'll make it.

    ;)

  7. high school isn't hard sweetiiee, it's the drama you have to worry about =/

  8. Personally I would give the classes and school a chance. Take the classes that will be the best for you academically and don't worry about the friends being in them. Just because you first couple days have been rough doesn't mean the next three or even this year for matter will be.Focus on your academics and Keep trying to meet new friends and I am sure with some time things will get better!

  9. I can totally relate to you-- im in the same situation right now. I've been trying my hardest to change my schedule but my counselor is a real b*tch and hates changing schedules. I say you try your hardest to switch classes so you can be with your friends. Plus, you'll meet different people through your friends and that can lead to even more friends and soon you won't be alone anymore :D

Don't try to stick it out because you will be sad, your last option will be to stick it out if there is nothing else you can do.

Seriously I hate high school so much because of this.

Always having to worry about if you have any friends in your classes or lunch, biggest fear is being alone with no friends. In the real world it doesn't even matter, you don't have to worry like "omg who am i going to sit with at lunch?!" all that c**p just doesn't matter.

College is so much better, I took classes there during the summer. In college you don't get that weird 'first day of school' feeling, you know that feeling of dread of not having any friends in your class or whatever. Because no one really knows each other in class anyway so you don't feel left out if your all alone, and its so much easier to make friends in college. Also, during break its FINE to be sitting by yourself, you won't look like a loner like you would in high school because a lot of people are by theirselves too!

UGH, I just wish high school could be like that, but unfortunately its not.

Fortunately for me, I only have one more year to go. I'm a senior and I won't ever have to deal with this c**p again!

    Good luck to you~
