Question:

Why is history in the arts & humanities section, as opposed to social science or society & culture?

I ask, because i thought history was a documentation of human society, so it would make sense to me to find it alongside social sciences and other academic pursuits.

  1. Maybe because history like art is subject to different interpretations depending on the point of view or philosophy of the person(s) looking at it. Also there are numerous painting depicting historical events that are the visual records of these events. History encompasses so many aspects of human endeavours that include book, author, philosophy, genealogy etc. maybe they felt that where it should be. Who knows, the only way you will really know why it is there is to ask Yahoo Q & A yourself. If you get an answer from them, tell us what their reason(s) are for doing this.
