Why is human life so valuable?

Why is it that when people on the news kill other people, like Nick Hogan, the victim's family bursts into tears and act like it's the end of the world?

Let's see.  If you lost a brother or sister, a child, or one of your parents, would you cry?  If not, would your parents cry for you?  

It IS the end of their world.  They will have to build a new one without that essential part of their family.  There will always be a hole where he was.  

What is unforgivable is the press intruding on their grief AND forcing us to witness it.   We have no business watching what is intensely private.
