  1. well if you dont know that answer youll never make it to the majors

  2. If you play well, you can get drafted right out of high school.  Scouts come to some high school games.  Also, you can play Legion ball and in other summer leagues - scouts come to those too.

  3. scouts gonna hop the fence in your backyard to watch you play?

  4. Because at every level of the game, they expect that you've learned things you should have learned at earlier levels. If you don't start playing organized baseball until late in your life, you won't have the benefit of those years of learning. On the other hand, I would not discourage somebody from trying out, no matter where they are in life or what they have done. There's always a chance, and even if you don't make it, it will be a great experience.

  5. What??!!? Are you really serious?? Really?? If you don't play in high school and no scouts come to see you, or you don't have any "reel" for college apps, then how are they even going to know you exist??? Travel ball is okay as additional resume value, but if you can't even "put" into your own high school team -- then it doesn't say much about team work, loyalty etc....even if they suck...then you'll stand out as the best in addition to travel play. If you are serious, then you have to play where the opportunity is...and if you are not on the high school team...then it lends the question - why not? Does he think he's too good for his own school's team??  Potential trouble...if you really love baseball then play baseball...in your high school...and on a travel team...and where ever you can get the chance to keep practicing and building up skills...if you really want to play baseball and become a professional - then play...scouts are going to look at you're overall commitment and the road to where you are and how you got there. Oh and by the way, (not to make you feel bad, but to help you realize that maybe you could use high school)...if you want to play professional ball, then perhaps it would be a good idea to know how to spell the word PROFESSIONAL. Don't mean to be hard on you, but sometimes when you see a green sap it needs a good switchin'. Good luck with your future...if you love ball...then PLAY ball- anytime-anywhere....
