  1. -Different professionals have different expertise that can support both the child and the staff

-Different agencies would have know children and family for number of years (sometimes) and may be able to providew background info.

-Working together in consistency will support child rather than several different approaches.

-Safety of child-ensuring child is supported and is progressing...if everyone keeps in contact then child can achieve.

PS: when i did my nvq3 i had a study guide from ~Waterstones and it was really useful for these sort of questions

  2. As we all know when seeking a doctor for a specific illness we have a specialist in that particular field of medicine; this is the same when it comes to the development of our children because they are each different and have different needs tha t require a specific attention. For example, if a child is is blind he/she would need a teacher who is qualified to teach him/her, if the child has a learning disability he/ she would need a specialist in that field to accomodate them. This is why there is on going classes and trainings in various fields regarding our children. Some people don't know what to do if a child has an allergic reaction to something versus children who have special needs. Certainly as the adult one would want options to select from as to who would or what agency would be better qualified to tend to his/her childs needs.

  3. I can't work out which unit you are doing...but here goes....

It benefits the child having the input of the multi-disciplinary team because each person can contribute based on their own expertise. If you take a child with ADHD diagnosed, the psychlogist can confirm the diagnosis and suggest behaviour management programmes, the doctor can prescribe ritalin. A play therapist can aid with turn taking and concentration and the Health Visitor can access social services repsite and support for the family. By meeting together with the people caring for the child in an educational setting, the teacher can obtain information they may not have. In a similar way, a child who cannot speak can be assisted by a speech therapist.

Hope this puts you on the right lines...

  4. Stress free is so right!

different agencies offer different things. Just like different equipment does different things. Your Early Years department for example should be able to offer the settings staff training in things like first aid, food hygiene, SEN etc. Without this working together, where would the training come from? Support for your setting might come from the Pre-school Learning Alliance, they are a professional friend for pre-schools where questions can be asked and answers given, they also offer training, resources, books and equipment to buy, we all need someone to answer our questions at some point. Road safety team, oral health, community fire department and police all bring in specialised information to the children, it also offers the children somone else delivering their learning.

    Good Luck
