Why is it, when your in love, you feel like you and the person your in love with are the only two on the earth

Well, your brain works differently when you are in love. There's a whole set of chemicals that kick in by the time you fall in love with someone, and that make sure you become infatuated with said person. That's why.

This system was very meaningful in our species evolutionary process, as it impels you to do anything to be with that person, to create a relation ship and, eventually, procreate.

Nowadays, you bond with someone for more than procreation, just the same way people have s*x for the pleasure itself and not only because they want to have kids. Still, that's what the pleasure is there for - to encourage procreation.

Likewise, the chemicals that make you focus on that person (hence thinking you two are the only ones in the whole world) were very useful for the propagation of our species.

(Sorry if you weren't looking for such a "factual why". But this IS ultimately the reason)
