Question:

Why is it I'm usually being chased in my dreams?

For instance, a couple nights ago I had a dream I was somewhere with a bunch of people. Maybe it was Bible study or fellowship. These people came barging in and were going to kill us. I managed to escape out the back door and kept running til I got near the river. I went left. A few goons went right and one must have gone right. I thought I was safe and had made my way to within a block of my house. One of the other Christians was with the female goon. I was hiding beside a van wondering how this wild woman caught up with me. I peered around the van. I don't know if she had seen me or not, but then, instead of crawling, I started walking and she saw me through the windows. I was thinking I couldn't go home because they knew where I lived but how would they? Did the Christian tell her where I lived? Anyway, I went to a neighbor's house to hide. That's the end of the dream because I woke up.

  1. Chase dreams often stem from feelings of anxiety in your walking life. The way we respond to anxiety and pressure in real life is typically manifested as a chase dream. Running is an instinctive response to physical threats in our environment. Often in these dream scenarios, you are being pursued by some attacker, who wants to hurt or possibly kill you. You are running away, hiding, or trying to outwit your pursuer. Chase dreams may represent your way of coping with fears, stress or various situations in your waking life. Instead of confronting the situation, you are running away and avoiding it.Ask yourself who is the one chasing you and you may gain some understanding and insight on the source of your fears and pressure.

  2. I believe dreams have meaning and are a way of tapping into the subconscious. Maybe the chasing represents an issue in your life that you're not dealing with, something you're running from and it's showing up as different people and situations, but it's always the same problem(s). If you're a Christian surrounded by like-minded people you're probably feeling safe. Someone or something has come along to disrupt that safety. Maybe you're not feeling confident about your beliefs or someone has introduced new doctrine you don't agree with. On a literal level maybe this dream represents a fear that you will be left behind to face the Tribulation and you're afraid for your safety, and people you trust have turned on you.

Back to the idea of your safety being interrupted. Maybe you're running from something and sometimes you find temporary solace but it doesn't last long enough and doesn't provide a real feeling of peace and safety. The goon you're running from has caught up with you. When you pass by the van and she sees you, maybe that symbolizes that part of you wants to come out from hiding and face what it is but you're still scared. Maybe you think you're within reach of safety, but on some level you know it's elusive because even that haven can't protect you. Maybe you're afraid someone you trust isn't trustworthy. Maybe that person you confided in told someone what you said. Maybe you feel betrayed by a friend. I sometimes wonder why we don't finish our dreams. Sure we have to get up and go about our day, but if given enough time to complete the dream, I wonder if our subconscious and our "dream factory" would let us see the completion of our dreams. Or maybe we can't handle the results because we're not ready for them.

  3. Something is bothering you. All may go away in time.

    I wish you sweet dreams.

  4. What is the use of calling someone a "Goon," now is that appropriate for a christain? Let's get with the "brass tacks here" and leave out this stuff about christians. You are a human first, how do you think God put you here! You were running from something and not being chased, probably an unconscious desire to go in the opposite direction of what your first intention was. Try to be different in this world is like fitting a square peg in a round hole, sometimes you have to look beyond the eyeball and give yourself credit for being human and not a door stop for sombody's indifference.
