Why is it I can't tell the difference between..?

Question

Why is it so hard for me to tell the difference between accents? I can't seem to tell much difference, and sometimes I struggle to distinguish certain ones. The American and British accents are my biggest problem area. Yet with others like the Australian accent, I have no trouble :/.

Why? Or is it just me? =D Lmao.

Any help with this is much appreciated.

Maybe you're not gifted in discerning differences in linguistics. Does it bother you?
