Why is it I can see the audio for this video but not the actual video?

Well my boyfriend is wanting to send me a show we watched together over the computer and i can get the file but it will not play on my computer! I get the audio no video so he said we might just need to install a video codec on yours but honestly i have no clue. Someone help me?!

Google, K Lite, download the full package & install. It has all the codecs you will ever need!

You probably need a codec like you said to be able to play the video portion of the show.
