....BUT, No one wants the USA to drill....THOSE PLACES HAVE THE SAME NEGATIVE EFFECTS FROM DRILLING AS WE WOULD. It makes no sense that it is ok to put other beautiful parts of the earth in peril as long as you all can drive a car and have lights.... I guess its ok when its not in your backyard tho?

  1. ask the dems.

  2. we pay for it, and we use it. do you have a car? if not have you ever gotten a ride somewhere?  everyone has contributed to this problem in some way(except amish:) including you, you could organize a boycott.everyone complains about the weather but no one does anything about it

  3. that's right the raping of other countries is what the US does best.. take take and take til we can`t take anymore..but we have oil right here in the US and no one wants to talk bout it except for  the Governor of Alaska.. she wants the drilling to start.. she says why should we pay high prices for oil and gas when we have oil right here.. TRUE isn`t it?

  4. For starters, we don't buy the entire world's supply of oil.  From the way you sound, it's like the US has ALL of it.  Not true. We do consume the most as a nation, but it's only 25% or so.  Not to mention, China and India are buying up more and more every day.  Oil is on a world market.  We can't just buy it all up ourselves.  And we should be drilling for oil here.  But we can't because of laws and mandates restricting the areas for drilling.  You can thank radical environmentalists and spineless politicians for not being able to drill on our own lands which we should be doing.  And drilling isn't like it once was.  The technology today allows for safe clean exctraction of oil.  Even opponents to domenstic drilling will tell you that.  There's a negative stigma towards it and it's mostly inaccurate.

  5. Because if we use up everybody else's oil first, then ours will be more valuable.  Gee, that's simple.

  6. Very VERY simple answer.

It's politically difficult to drill for oil at home.

It's politically difficult to do a lot of things. Nuclear, for example, is a swear word because people get scared. Recent advances have given us fuel supplies that could last for a billion years.

It's politically difficult to tell people to drive less.

It's politically difficult to legalize japanese-style 'kei-cars' which get horrendously high gas mileage but don't cost a huge amount of money.

It's politically impossible to legalize Chinese style 'mini-cars' which are dangerous as h**l but will get you 200mpg because they don't have a bunch of extra metal all over the place.

It's politically difficult to redesign towns and cities to optimize fuel consumption for people who want to continue driving.

There are so many things that could be done, that aren't. We're going to drive ourselves to ruin, but there are so many people entrenched in their present norms, trapped in their thinking, that we won't be able to change.
