  1. Actually the are called "Dinars".  I have a few old ones with Saddam's picture on them.  I don't think the new ones are a good investment because I think it will take too long for Iraq's economy to stabilize.

  2. When Kuwait was invaded by Iraq, those who had the foresight to buy Kuwaiti currency before the US forced Iraq's army to exit made incredible multiples on their investment.  This causes others to consider - wisely - if the same pattern would appear again, would the net result be as profitable?.  A lot will depend on the strength, pace and economic impact (positive or negative) of the transition.  Because of the slow, high-risk transition of governments to their own full autonomy, this speculation might pay off, but you also run the risk of the currency being devalued, replaced or rebased.  The Kuwaiti episode paid off because of the abrupt speed, surprise and finality of the situation.  I doubt the same opportunity will arise with Iraq - but, if you can afford to lose the funds with which you're speculating... only time will tell.

  3. its not. people who say it is are most likely trying to scam you.

  4. cuz supposedly when their economy becomes stable they will be worth something and right now they are cheap
