Why is it advisable to eat 2000 calories?

Some people around me say a healthy diet is around 2000 calories a day and if you're trying to lose weight, it's safest at 1 lb a week. Why? Are they wrong? BTW, one of them is a science teacher and a gym teacher.

  1. More calories=more energy=longer workout=more weight lost


  2. cause your body will naturally breakedown some callories by itsself while you are doing normal everyday actvities and thats the number they desided your body would break down without causeing weight gain

  3. for guys it is. you need that many calories to keep your body healthy and growing properly. but to have 2000 calories, you dont want all of them to be fats. you should have all of the food groups in one day. but you also need to stay active everyday.
